Langkawi Kids Review: Langkawi From A Child's Perspective (9-year-old)

We asked our 9-year-old daughter to review our two months in Langkawi. These are her thoughts.

Langkawi Through My Eyes (Age 9)

My favourite things in Langkawi were the wildlife parks, the crocodile park, the sky cab, the beaches, and definitely the eagles flying around. It was pretty cool because we don’t have eagles in New Zealand.

At the wildlife park there were loads of animals. They had crocodiles and raccoons, and one raccoon climbed all over Mum and loved her, but his claws were quite sharp so I guess it hurt her. I got to stroke a caiman and it was very, very, very, very, very rough. Dad held a python and it was huge, like four metres long or something, and really heavy too.

The sky cab was amazing. It’s a cable car that goes really, really high up. They said it was the steepest cable car in the world. At the top we had to get another cable car to the bridge. The bridge was giant and really high, and you could see the whole view of the ocean. It was really cool because we were above the jungle and everything. It was a bit scary but me and Alex were just playing. It was quite sturdy, so it wasn’t really like a wobbly bridge, more like big platforms.

The food in Langkawi was pretty good but very, very, very, very, very hard to find. We walked around for about an hour trying to find somewhere to eat. They had a few McDonald’s places but we don’t eat McDonald’s, so we had to walk around and buy food from stalls, which was hard. It was all right, but not as good as Thai food or New Zealand food or English food.

The apartment we stayed in was very, very, very good. It was good quality and felt like fancy people would hire it. But I lost my favourite toy there and I miss her so much. She was called Fudge and she was a little chocolate rabbit my friend bought me for my birthday.

When we were driving around Langkawi we saw lots of monkeys by the side of the road. The weather was very, very, very, very, very hot from in February.

There was also a big, big, big pool near our apartment that not many people used. We went there almost every single day. It was so deep that even Dad, who is quite tall, couldn’t touch the bottom. I loved swimming there.

Langkawi was really fun but wouldn’t rush back.
